Mel is a certified Akhanda Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) and a certified Yoga Life Coach. She is a joyful and fun loving person who cares deeply for her students, and uses clear and easy-to-follow directions for each movement, cueing the breath, and inviting students to move towards inner inquiry. The ability to see each of her students as an individual is very important to her. She began a Yogic lifestyle after a difficult period in life in 2012 and found that Yoga helped her so much that she was inspired to become a teacher to be able to share the helpful qualities of Yoga with others. She has found that Yoga has helped to support her through her own trauma recovery, depression, a chronic neck condition, and a serious illness. Yoga for Mel is a holistic practice of self-care, self-love, much needed stillness, transformation, and a beautiful conversation with the body, mind, and spirit. Mel trained in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains in Rishikesh, India directly with Yogrishi Vishvketu, the founder of Akhanda Yoga since 2013. Akhanda Yoga is a holistic Hatha style of Yoga that encompasses all aspects of Yoga and Yogic lifestyle. Akhanda means whole, unbroken tradition, and is a traditional Himalayan exploration of the eight-fold path of Yoga and the alignment of self and soul. Mel teaches multiple styles of Yoga, including: traditional Hatha yoga, classical Himalayan Kundalini, trauma-informed yoga (certified Veteran’s Yoga project Teacher), restorative yoga, yin yoga, and yoga nidra.
